Institute of Advanced Refractories Research (IARR) is one division of Luoyang Institute of Refractories(LIRR) which has been enjoying high reputation in refractories lines all over the country. IARR has eighty employees, among them 2 are professorship senior engineers, 10 senior engineers, 28 engineers. There are several devices used in every production procedures which have the characteristics of high automation degree and controlling precision such as 6000T isostatic press, 1000T friction press, tunnel for drying ,1800?J tunnel kiln, etc. In the past twenty years, IARR has concentrated its effort on research and development of advanced refractories mainly for petrochemical and ceramics industries. IARR has successfully developed and produced high purity corundum brick, high chromia brick, chromia-corundum brick, heavy and light corundum-mullite brick, bubble alumina brick, bubble zirconia brick, zirconia brick, alumina ceramic, zirconia ceramic and high quality castables which have achieved good results employing in oil slagging gasifier, coal gasifier of 300,000Tsynthetic ammonia device and carbon black reaction furnace. For example, the properties of high purity corundum brick IARR developed has reach the world best level and its average service life amount to 17300 hours in oil slagging gasifier of 300,000Tsynthetic ammonia device. Take high chromia refractories for anther example. High chromia refractories have worked 8000h as hot lining of 6.5 MPa coal slagging gasifier of 300,000Tsynthetic ammonia device and 12000h are expected to achieve which has won second prize awarded by Ministry of petrochemical industry and He Nan Province. IARR also has been approved as plant affiliated to America Texaco Company.
